Regina Coeli is my fourth and final Marian antiphon, as well as my one of the most vivacious and bright choral compositions to date. It, like nearly all of my vocal work, was written for my good friend and mentor, Anne Whattoff.

Delving once again into the various modes, Regina Coeli heavily utilizes the Mixolydian scale, shifts through several different key signatures in the process, and yet still manages to end with the first melody in the original key (it must be my subconscious desire as a video game musician for songs to repeat).

Regina Coeli was the most fun I've had writing sacred music in quite a while due to its highly contrapuntal nature and varying Alleluia sections. This performance was recorded during the Compline service of August 31, 2008.
