Some time in early 2004, my high school friend Eric Baudour was working on a film for his senior year english project. It was to be a kung-fu comedy adaptation of the final scene from Hamlet, and knowing the work I was doing for Mega64, he asked me to score his short film.
A few themes in this soundtrack were "borrowed" from other compositions in Legacy of Magnus. My sentiments at the time were that they were too fitting for the 'ninja' sound to pass up.
Scoring Battle for Honor was interesting because I never actually saw any of the footage prior to writing the score. Eric e-mailed me a timeline, with simple descriptions of what was happening during each scene. The music was simply composed around this timeline, and ended up looking great in the final product.
For some reason or another, the last copies of the film were lost before I had an opportunity to take one for my portfolio. So unfortunately, the only memento I have of the film other than the music is a chinese shirt one of the actors gave me, which is fantastic by the way. |

“Good score.”
