Another Marian antiphon, written in a style quite similar to my Ave Maria. The text really drove the melody with this one, resulting in a softer and actually much more peaceful sounding piece.
Though it is in a minor key, this piece altogether is less dark than most of my choral works, at least until the ending, where I seemed to let my Elfman-esque tendencies resurface.
Alma Redemptoris Mater was written for Anne Whattoff to use in the Compline service, but as of now, a performance has not yet been scheduled due to the abundance of Marian antiphons I've suddenly created. |
